Editorial Standards

Signal is Ecoportal’s US energy edition. These standards apply to everything we publish.

Accuracy and sourcing

Every key fact, figure and quote in a Signal story is tied to a named, verifiable source. We prefer primary sources: government agencies such as the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the Department of Energy and NOAA, grid operators, regulatory filings, company disclosures and peer-reviewed research. We link to those sources in the article so readers can check them.

Independence

Our editors decide what we cover. Advertisers and partners have no influence on our reporting. Any sponsored content is clearly labelled as such, and paid links carry the appropriate attributes.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to support research, drafting and illustration. Editors remain responsible for every published article. Images created with artificial intelligence are labelled in the caption.

Corrections

When we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and transparently. If a correction changes the meaning of a story, we note it at the end of the article. To report an error, use our contact page and choose “Correction request”.
